A 21st brings together people who know the birthday person from different chapters: family, school, study, work and the friends who seem to be at everything. A photo booth gives those groups a reason to mix, and a strip to keep afterwards.
The planning is mostly about timing. Put the booth where guests will notice it and give it enough uninterrupted time around speeches. Our Geelong party photo booth guide covers package basics; this guide focuses on a 21st. Our Geelong photo booth hire guide explains how the quote and booking confirmation work.
Protect some time either side of speeches
Start with guest arrival, food, speeches and the venue finish time. If speeches are at 8.30 pm, think about whether the booth should open beforehand for family photos and continue afterwards for friends.
Don't assume every guest will arrive at the invitation time. An early booking can be useful, but it needs enough people in the room to use it. If the party builds slowly, opening a little later may make more of the booked hours.
Three hours is $559 at Geelong Booth Co., and four hours is $669. Both include the same booth, attendant, unlimited live prints and backdrop. Our duration guide can help compare those windows against the run sheet.
Get the family photos before people leave
Ask the birthday person which family groups they would like. It could be a photo with grandparents, one with siblings and another with a cousin group. Keep the list short enough that it still feels like a party.
A family member who knows everyone can gather people when they're nearby. The attendant can help position the group once they reach the booth, but won't know which uncle has stepped outside or who is about to head home.
Try to give the birthday person a few minutes to take those photos without being interrupted. Once that part is done, they can use the booth more casually with friends during the evening.
Make the strip feel like their party
The included personalised strip can use a name, the date, colours and fonts. A large "21" with a short name line can be enough. If the party has a theme, pick one or two elements that still read clearly on a small print.
Check whether the person wants their full name, a nickname or just their first name. If it is a surprise party, choose someone who knows their preferences to approve the design. Don't let a joke become the permanent print unless you're confident the birthday person will enjoy it.
Ask for one clear final approval. Several relatives suggesting separate edits can leave the designer unsure which version is wanted.
Pick a backdrop alongside the outfits
Gold Sequin, Silver Sequin and Black Gold Lines can suit an evening party. Neon brings more colour, while Plain White leaves the clothes and props to do most of the work. All 15 collection backdrops are included choices.
If guests have been asked to wear one colour or a particular style, compare that against the backdrop images. A background with a lot of detail may compete with a room full of elaborate costumes.
Props are included too. They can be playful without appearing in every picture. Encourage guests to take a simple photo first if that is what they want, then use the props for another pose.
Put the booth near the party
Allow roughly 3 m by 3 m with access to a standard power point and room for people waiting. Position it where guests can see it without blocking the bar, catering or dance floor.
At a home party, check the route for equipment and agree a weather backup if you are considering an outdoor area. At a hired venue, confirm supplier access and pack-down times with the coordinator. Our setup checklist covers both.
Give guests one reminder
After speeches, a short announcement can point out the booth and mention its closing time. If you are making an album, say where guests should leave a strip and message. There is no need to schedule every group or interrupt the party repeatedly.
Your event gallery follows after the celebration, with a standard turnaround within 48 hours. Enquire about the birthday date with the venue, preferred hours and any surprise-party arrangements. Travel within 15 km of central Geelong is free; beyond that, we quote it after enquiry.
