Choose photo booth hours around the time guests can use them. Headcount matters, but a hundred guests with a long open reception have a different opportunity from a hundred guests between dinner, speeches and a fixed departure.
For a Geelong event, start with the schedule and work towards a package. Our birthday and party guide covers the rest of the planning, and the main hire guide explains what's included.
Two hours: a clear window for photos
A two-hour booking can suit a shorter event or a party with one obvious period for the booth. It helps if most guests are present when it opens and there are few interruptions during the session.
Think about a family celebration where people arrive together, eat early and then have a couple of hours to mingle. The booth can sit within that social period. If arrivals are staggered or a long speech programme falls in the middle, the same duration may feel tighter.
Our two-hour Party package is $449. It includes the attendant, unlimited live prints and a collection backdrop, along with the other standard inclusions. The shorter booking doesn't mean a reduced equipment package.
Three hours: room for people to come back
Three hours can give a party time to settle before guests gather different groups for photos. Someone might visit with their partner early, return with friends and later pull in a relative who has just arrived.
At $559, the three-hour package adds an hour to that opportunity. Check how much of the window guests will spend seated, listening to speeches or doing another organised activity. A busy timetable can use up that flexibility quickly.
For a 21st, for example, a booking from 7.30 pm to 10.30 pm might straddle a short set of speeches. That can work if the rest of the time is open. The exact window should follow your venue times and the birthday person's plans.
Four hours: coverage around formalities
A four-hour booking costs $669 and can suit an event where you want the booth available across more than one phase. That might be early family photos followed by later party photos, or time before and after a wedding meal.
The extra hour is useful only if it overlaps with people who want to use it. If the first hour contains little more than supplier setup and a nearly empty room, shift the start time. Guest-facing hire and setup access are separate details to arrange.
For a wedding, read our reception timing guide before deciding where those four hours should sit.
Five hours or longer: a broader event schedule
Five hours is $779 and six hours is $889. Longer coverage may suit an event with guests arriving at different times or several periods when the booth will be useful.
For extended standard hire, seven hours is $999, eight hours $1,109 and nine hours $1,219. Extra time is $110 per hour. A multi-day event or an unusual split schedule needs a separate discussion; adding hours doesn't settle every access or operating arrangement.
If you expect a long pause, mention it when requesting the quote. Don't assume the booked duration can be divided into disconnected sessions without agreement.
Allow time for groups to change
A photo session involves more than the shutter. People choose who is joining, decide on props, pose and collect their prints. Some move quickly; others need help gathering the group. That is part of the activity.
Avoid choosing hours from a promise that every guest will have a set number of sessions. If you need particular group photos, arrange who will gather those people and give them a suitable window. Tell us about a large guest list or short break so we can discuss the practical limits.
Check the finish time before you book
Work backwards from venue closing or organised transport. If people will leave at 10 pm, a booking until 11 pm may not add much. If families will leave early, an earlier opening may do more for the photos than a later finish.
An extension on the night is subject to availability and venue arrangements. Book the time you expect to need, then treat any late extension as an option to discuss rather than a certainty.
Send your event date, venue and rough schedule. Include expected guest numbers and planned formalities so we can help match the hours to the event.
